On Tuesday, April 21, 2026 the Kiwanis Club of Corpus Christi awarded Senior Officer Raymond Jones the Chief Floyd Simpson Police Officer of the Year award.
The Kiwanis Club of Corpus Christi began honoring a local officer each year in the mid‑1960s, when Police Chief Dick Runyon was an active member of our club. At that time, the recognition was known as the Most Courteous Officer Award. Chief Runyon remained a dedicated Kiwanian for 33 years.
Over time, the award evolved into the Police Officer of the Year. Then, about ten years ago, following the passing of Chief Floyd Simpson, the award was renamed the Chief Floyd Simpson Police Officer of the Year Award in his honor.
This year, Senior Officer Raymond Jones was presented with the award, a heartfelt acknowledgment of the quiet dedication he brings to his work each day. His steady presence, kindness, and commitment to serving others reflect the spirit of this honor in a truly meaningful way. Our club was grateful for the chance to recognize someone who gives so much without asking for attention in return.
